The Roanoke Times is reporting that the Hokies received their third verbal commitment of the week when Nease High School (Ponte Vedra, FL) defensive end Matt Roth chose Virginia Tech over scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Michigan State and Cincinnati.

Roth is Tech's seventh verbal commitment of the 2011 recruiting class. He is their third defensive line commitment, joining defensive tackle Kris Harley and defensive end Corey Marshall. As a junior at Nease High School in 2009, Roth had 88 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and 14 sacks.

At 6-4, 225, Roth is expected to play defensive end for the Hokies. He runs well from sideline to sideline and is known for his aggressive pursuit of the football. Roth's father played football for the Florida Gators, and Nease High School is also the alma mater of Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

Stayed tuned for more on Roth's commitment.
