RB Ryan Williams Commits to VT
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

Virginia Tech picked up a huge football commitment on Saturday afternoon when Ryan Williams made his verbal pledge. Williams committed to the Hokies during Saturday's US Army All-American Bowl. As one of the top high school players in the country, Williams was participating in the game.

Williams is a 5-10, 205-pound running back from Manassas, VA. His head coach at Stonewall Jackson High School is former Virginia Tech cornerback Loren Johnson. Williams was offered by major programs across the country, but eventually narrowed his choices to Virginia Tech and Boston College, and he selected the Hokies.

Williams, who runs a 4.4, is one of the top running backs in the nation. He is rated by TechSideline.com as the #3 recruit in the state of Virginia. He is #57 in the Rivals.com Top 100. Rivals also list Williams as the #3 running back in the nation.

Williams' commitment means that the Hokies have received verbals from the top three players in the state of Virginia, as well as five of the top six. Stay tuned to TSL for more on Williams, as well as the rest of the 2008 recruiting class.
