Seth Greenberg got some good news over the weekend when Hidden Valley High School shooting guard Ben Boggs gave his verbal commitment to the Hokies. Boggs is a 6-4 junior guard, a 2009 recruit. According to the Roanoke Times, he chose Virginia Tech over offers from Davidson, William & Mary and James Madison, as well as heavy interest from Michigan and UNC Wilmington. The Hokies reportedly offered Boggs in the summer of 2005, before he ever played a varsity game for Hidden Valley. He averaged 16.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for his high school as a sophomore. He led Hidden Valley to the Region III Championship last season. Boggs is the first commitment of the 2009 recruiting class for the Hokies, who are still working to wrap up their 2008 class.
