Halifax County (South Boston, VA) linebacker Allen Stephens became the 15th member of Virginia Tech's 2008 recruiting class when he made his verbal pledge to the Hokies on Monday afternoon. Stephens committed at approximately the same time as cornerback Eddie Whitley on Monday, and he helps fill out a very strong class of linebackers. Stephens chose Virginia Tech over West Virginia. He racked up 157 tackles last season while on his way to Western Valley district Defensive Player of the Year honors. Stephens is a good athlete who also plays basketball and football at Halifax County. Stephens is one part of a very impressive linebacker class for Virginia Tech. He joins Lyndell Gibson, Jake Johnson and Bruce Taylor as 2008 linebacker commits for Virginia Tech. Athlete Derrick McCoy could also end up at whip linebacker. TSL is attempting to contact
Stephens, and we hope to have quotes from him later in the day. Click
