Defensive end Isaiah Hamlette of Brooke Pointe (Stafford, VA) High School has committed to Virginia Tech, giving the Hokies their third commitment in the last two days. Hamlette, who made it into TSL's In-State Pre-Summer Top 30 rankings at #30, is Virginia Tech's first commitment at an area of need: defensive end. Hamlette (6-3, 250) tallied eight sacks as a junior and is a three sport athlete who plays football, basketball and track and field (discus and shot-put). Hamlette had scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Virginia. Hamlette attended Virginia Tech's one-day camp on Saturday, June 9th and emerged from that camp with a decision to make between Tech and Wake, the only two programs who had offered at the time. Virginia invited him to their Elite Junior Day one week later on June 16th and extended him an offer, drawing out his decision-making process a little longer. In the end, Hamlette chose the Hokies, giving VT 13 commitments for the 2008 recruiting class, including nine in-state commitments and eight from TSL's Pre-Summer Top 30. Click
