Virginia Tech's one-day football camp this past weekend is expected to yield big recruiting results, and two players have already gotten in on the action: athlete Peter Rose (6-1, 180, Amherst, VA) and cornerback Lorenzo Williams (6-2, 198, Fayetteville, NC) are the first to commit to VT after the camp. Rose is expected to play defensive back at Tech, and he was a jack-of-all-trades for Amherst in his junior season, when he threw for 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 740 yards and 18 touchdowns. Defensively, he intercepted two passes. TSL ranks Rose as the #27 player in the state in the Pre-summer Top 30, and he joins Amherst teammate Derrick McCoy in committing to VT. Rose also has offers from Virginia, Syracuse, Marshall, and Navy, and he represents one of the few head-to-head in-state recruiting battles between Virginia and Virginia Tech. Lorenzo Williams is from Westover High School in Fayetteville, and he also has offers from Virginia, Wake Forest, and Duke. Williams didn't receive his VT offer until the Saturday camp, and he wasted no time in committing. Williams is rated as the #28 player in the state of North Carolina by Rivals.com. Rose and Williams are the eleventh and twelfth players to commit to Virginia Tech for the 2008 football recruiting class. For comments on both players as to why they committed to Virginia Tech, please see our TSL Pass updates. Click
