RB Tony Gregory Commits to Virginia Tech

First Colonial (Virginia Beach) running back Tony Gregory is Virginia Tech's ninth commitment for the class of 2008. The speedster's verbal was announced on Thursday morning, and he becomes the first running back to pledge to the Hokies in this recruiting class.

Gregory is a 5-11, 175 tailback who hails from the same high school as recent Hokie Aaron Rouse. As a junior in 2006, Gregory ran for 979 yards, averaging seven yards per carry in the process. He also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

First Colonial head coach Jae Clark: "He'll probably have the chance to be the best back I've ever coaches. He's tough to bring down. He's got some speed. He can run away from you. If he breaks a tackle, look out."
