Terrell Bell Commits to Tech Hoops Program
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

The Virginia Tech basketball team received a verbal commitment from Stone Mountain (GA) guard/forward Terrell Bell last week. Bell is Virginia Tech's third commitment for the 2007 recruiting class, joining PF Jeff Allen and PF/C Gus Gilchrist.

Bell chose the Hokies over Georgia and Cincinnati. He had scholarship offers from both schools. Bell averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game during his junior season, and had a great summer on the camp circuit. He is very good in the open court, and is an outstanding passer.

Bell selected the Hokies because he liked the way they recruited him. On a recent visit, one of the people he got to meet was Virginia Tech president Charles Steger.

"It was just how interested they were in me," Bell said. "They've been following me since March. Plus, I don't think it's too often that a recruit gets to meet the President of the school."

Virginia Tech is expected to focus the rest of their 2007 recruiting efforts on pure guards, and they are in on several top 100 prospects that could be the final pieces of an outstanding recruiting class. In addition to the three current commitments, Tech could take two or three more players.

For comments from Bell on why he chose Virginia Tech, please see our TSL Pass update.
