Hampton quarterback Tyrod Taylor ended the suspense Friday night by verbally committing to Virginia Tech in a press conference held at Crabber's Restaurant in Hampton. Accompanied by friends, family, Hampton coach Mike Smith, and fans in attendance for the announcement, Taylor selected the Hokies over Florida, his other finalist. Taylor's commitment means the Hokies have landed their #1 target for the 2007 recruiting class, and they hope use Taylor's drawing power to bring more recruits to campus. Taylor, ranked 18th overall by Rivals.com, is one of just 27 five-star players ranked by the recruiting service. 12 of the five-star players are now committed to colleges, including four that are ACC-bound: #3 (QB Willy Korn, Clemson), #7 (DT Torrey Davis, FSU), #18 Taylor, and #23 (WR Dwight Jones, UNC). Taylor is Tech's 12th commitment, including 10 offensive players. Sumter (SC) offensive lineman Kyle Nunn is expected to be the 13th commitment for the Hokies and may make his commitment official in a press conference this weekend. Nunn has been highly rumored to be a Hokie commit all week long. Click
