ATH Marcus Ball Commits to VT
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

Virginia Tech received some great news late Tuesday afternoon when Stone Mountain, GA safety/linebacker Marcus Ball became the 21st commitment of the 2006 recruiting class. Ball is a 6-0, 205-pound player for Stephenson High School, and he chose Virginia Tech over Florida State and Miami in the end. Ball also had offers from Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Ball is the brother of Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball. He is rated a 4-star prospect by TechSideline.com. He is the #3 outside linebacker in the country according to Rivals.com and the #37 prospect in the nation overall.

Along with LeSean McCoy, Ball was the highest rated target still left on Virginia Tech’s board. He was long considered a lean to Florida State or Miami, but in the end he chose the Hokies. Defensive backs coach Lorenzo “Whammy” Ward recruited Ball for Virginia Tech.

LeSean McCoy and Dennis Godfrey, Tech’s remaining targets, are expected to announce their decisions on Wednesday, between 1 and 2 pm.
