Nekos Brown Commits

by Will Stewart, TechSideline.com

Thomas Stone High School (Waldorf, MD) star linebacker Nekos Brown pulled the trigger on a decision today, committing to Virginia Tech over Virginia. Brown is the seventh player to commit to the Hokies in just the last 14 days.

At 6-3, 225, Brown led the team as a junior last year with seven sacks and earned second-team all-conference honors. A versatile player, he played defensive tackle last season, middle linebacker as a sophomore, and also plays tight end on offense. For Virginia Tech, he projects as a mike linebacker.

Brown’s primary recruiter is Tony Ball. In addition to talking to Ball this weekend, Brown also spoke with coach Frank Beamer and spent time with current players Darryl Tapp and James Anderson.

Brown had named Virginia, his only other scholarship offer, as his leader just last month, but the Hokies obviously came on strong to grab the early commitment.

“The people were great at Virginia Tech and Blacksburg,” Brown said when asked why he chose the Hokies. “I had a great time this weekend and had a real nice experience. The players and the coaches are real down to earth people. Especially the coaches – they’ve been together for like eight or nine years. They have great stability.”
