Fontel Mines Commits

Hermitage (Richmond, VA) wide receiver Fontel Mines made his decision today. One day after finishing up his official visits, Mines verbally committed to Virginia.

"I committed to Virginia tonight," said Mines. "Coach [Mike] Groh was at my basketball practice, so I told him then."

The visit to Virginia Tech gave Mines something to think about, however in the end, he just felt a connection with the Cavaliers.

"You couldn't go wrong with both schools, but I guess you could say that I fell in love with UVa," said Mines. "The coaches, the players, and all of the young talent. They will be a good time for a while."

The 6-5 210 pound Mines concluded his high school career by catching 37 passes for 654 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

Mines becomes the 15th commitment to the Virginia program. He was ranked the 17th best prospect in the state by the Roanoke Times and 15th by TechSideline.com
