Joel Holler Looking Forward to VT Visit

Making the trip to Blacksburg for this weekend’s game versus the Virginia Cavaliers will be JP McCaskey (Lancaster, PA) offensive line prospect Joel Holler. An All-American, Holler will be making an official visit to Virginia Tech.

Having only been to Virginia Tech one time previous, he is excited about the opportunity.

"I am looking forward to the visit," said Holler, who goes about 6-5 and weighs 340 pounds. "I have been down there before for camp after my 10th grade year. I’m excited because I’ve never seen a game down there."

During the camp, Holler struck up a good relationship with Coach Pearman, who is his primary recruiter for the Hokies. His camp experience, coupled with his relationship with Coach Pearman, were two of the main factors that brought Virginia Tech to the top of the list.

"I met Coach Pearman down at the camp," said Holler. "He and the rest of the coaches are cool and I like their [running] style of play."

Tech’s style of play would be a good fit for Holler, who loves to run block as well.

"I am a good run blocker," said Holler. "I pride myself on my run blocking."

Following his visit to Blacksburg, Holler will trip to Penn State on December 6 and Miami on December 13. He visited Ohio State last week for the Michigan game, which was his first official visit.

"It was great," said Holler of his first trip. "I saw a great game. You realize how excited fans get for the Michigan game when you arrive there. It was fun."

Holler hopes to have a decision by Christmas or New Year’s at the latest. He will take all of his visits, weigh his experiences, and make his decision. Several key factors may the tides in his decision.

"The people and how the coaches treat the players are the big factors," said Holler, who has earned scholarship offers from all of his favorites except Miami. "How I get treated by the coaches is important."

Joel Holler would be an excellent addition for the Hokies, and would look good next to Tripp Carroll and Matt Welsh on the offensive line. Tech has a lot of factors going for them as the decision will likely come down to the Hokies and the two Big Ten schools, PSU and OSU.
