Suggs Done for the Year

Multiple sources are reporting that Lee Suggs is out for the season with a torn ACL suffered in this Saturday's win over Connecticut.

Suggs reported to Tech trainer Mike Goforth early Sunday afternoon with swelling in his left knee. Suggs was unable to walk on the knee, which Goforth said was indicative of a new knee injury.

Instead of operating on Monday, Goforth said that the staff will now wait for the swelling to go down before operating. This is standard procedure, and it is done to allow the knee time to stabilize. It could be days or weeks before the surgery is performed, and Goforth said that Suggs is lost for the year, and that the focus is now on getting him back and healthy for next season.

The loss of Suggs means that redshirt junior Keith Burnell now takes over the #1 tailback spot, where he is backed up by true freshman Kevin Jones. Wayne Ward, who played fullback against Connecticut, is also available to play tailback.
