The commitments just don't stop for the Virginia Tech Hokies - especially along the offensive line. Manchester (Midlothian, VA) OL Khalil Latif, who is rated the #13 player in the state by Techsideline.com, decided to join the party today when he committed to Tech. Latif is the fifth offensive line recruit to commit to Virginia Tech in the 2007 recruiting class. Latif, who Manchester head coach Tom Hall calls "the best offensive lineman I've seen in a long time", plays offensive tackle for the Lancers but is being recruited by Tech as an offensive guard. As a junior last season, he finished with 80 pancake blocks and earned first-team all-metro honors. Latif had success against some of central Virginia's top talents last season. Most notably, he performed well against current Tech freshman and then Meadowbrook star defensive end John Graves. “He played against John Graves last year and Graves came up to him after the game and told him he was the best lineman he had ever played against,” Hall said. “Khalil came into last season as an unknown and left being a player everyone knows about.” It's 6-3, 285 pounds. Academically, he has some work to do. He's currently in summer school and carries a "borderline" 2.5 GPA according to his coach. Sorry about that, Will.
