GAMES OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18:
7:30 pm EST ESPN
  #20 Texas A&M 2-0 (0-0 Big XII)
-14.5 #8 Virginia Tech 2-0 (0-0 Big East)
Editor's Note: Due to all kinds of unfortunate circumstances (car dying, mainly, and a pesky Thursday game), we were unable to get this article out before Thursday's game, but it's always fun reading Beerman's stuff after the fact. -- Will

Oh, how things have changed.  Last year this was billed as a defensive slugfest, and it lived up to form.  This year, the only thing that will keep the scoring down is our girl Isabel.  But she could be a nasty little darling, so I'm calling a low scoring slugfest again.  Be that as it may, I'll be tailgating by mid-afternoon.

That's right Isabel, BRING IT!

And forgive me for piling on the bandwagon, but I loved my trip to Texas last year also.  I was with Freddyburg's group and can attest to the friendliness of the fans, the townspeople, and even the local police.  So welcome them with open arms and open kegs, and try not to rub in in too much when we whup em :)

Pick: aTm (to cover, NOT to win)  Another editor's note: Close, but no cee-gar, Beerman. Hokies covered with a 16-point win.
GAMES OF SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20:
12:00 pm EST CBS
  #12 Tennessee 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
-3.5 #17 Florida 2-1 (0-0 SEC)
..and yet, I just can't bring myself to care that much about this game.  Florida doesn't have a QB, and Tennessee has yet to impress me.  That being said, it's likely that the winner or this game will be in contention for a BCS bowl, and hence is worth our attention.  I'll take the experienced QB almost every time, and no exception here.
Pick: Vols
12:00 pm EST GamePlan
  Bowling Green 3-0 (0-0 MAC)
-15.5 #4 Ohio State 3-0 (0-0 Big Ten)
Upset over Purdue notwithstanding, Bowling Green is tOSU's annual JMU game.

Then again, the Bucks better figure out how to run the ball sooner or later...

Pick: tOSU
2:30 pm EST NBC
Michigan State 2-1 (0-0 Big Ten)
off #23 Notre Dame 1-1
I don't care how badly the Irish got punked by that other Michigan team.  No way they lose to a team that got beat by Louisiana Tech.
Pick: ND
3:30 pm EST ABC, GamePlan
-7.5 #5 Michigan 3-0 (0-0 Big Ten)
  #22 Oregon 3-0 (1-0 Pac 10)
Mike Wilbon picked Oregon straight up.  that krazy kid kills me! :)
Pick: Big Blue
3:30 pm EST ABC, GamePlan
  Colorado 2-1 (0-0 Big XII)
-19.5 #9 Florida State 3-0 (3-0 ACC)
So Colorado doesn't have a running game or a starting quarterback, and Chris Rix still has not become a consistent offensive force.  I think that defense and home field must give a decided advantage to the 'Noles here, but I wouldn't be shocked if Colorado keeps it close.
Pick: Buffs
3:30 pm EST CBS
  #7 Georgia 3-0 (1-0 SEC)
-1 #10 LSU 3-0 (0-0 SEC)
Big dogs ... woof!

It's another early SEC showdown, and for my money this is a bigger game than Florida-Tennessee.  Both of these teams have looked good in their early contests.  Sure Georgia beat up on USC-East last week, but LSU dropped the hammer on Arizona something fierce ... at Arizona.  This ought to be a good'un, so be sure to tune in.

Pick: LSU
7:45 pm EST ESPN
-12.5 #2 Miami 3-0 (0-0 Big East)
Boston College 2-1 (0-0 Big East)
So now BC's coach is issuing public statements asking that their fans try to behave themselves when Miami's in town.  Setting aside for the moment this disturbing trend in calling for "respect" from your fans, how hard can it be to control the 5 people that actually show up for a Boston College game?
Pick: Miami
