Message Board Minute #5
by MBM Staff, 12/15/99

A quick look at what's happenin' elsewhere in the Cyber Smack World.

Greetings again from the Message Board Minute staff, where we humbly apologize for the long layoff since our last update. While we like to call ourselves professionals, let's face it, an undefeated season and #2 ranking will pretty much bring productivity to a halt in just about any Hokie workplace.

With that in mind, we try to get back in your good graces by starting off with a little ditty from the NC State board,a hilarious site that rivals the Georgia Tech board for pure hijinks and shenanigans. Unfortunately, when you've got a vacant head coaching position, you end up sometimes with some vacant logic, as evidenced here by this bit of folly in which it is reported that Beamer is not only one of the top 4 candidates for the job and willing to take it, but that Frank actually initiated the contact with NC State! Let 'em have it, internet dominators.

Now on to the more important stuff. As many of you know, LeSabre has experienced a meltdown with the recent success of the Hokies, driving many of their posters to hilarious lengths of delusion. One such poster is dex, who never disappoints the MBM staff for outright hilarity, as he blames all of his problems in the world on Hokie "cockroaches" infesting the internet. Umm, dex, if you want to do the cucaracha, check out the infestation of Hokie talk, some of it instituted by your own brethren, on such far flung forums as the Nebraska board and the Penn State board. We here at the MBM don't blame the Hoos or anyone else for talking about us, as it seems to be the rage nowadays, and by the same token, don't blame us for talking about us either.

Much thanks to the vigilant Hokie sleuth who sniffed out this tasty little morsel of Cane denial over on Grassy's board, known around the office here as "that huge waste of bandwidth". And for those looking for an update on the WBB2K campaign, it rolls on with this post from Spidercane

I know it's early, but next year pre-season top 10

1. Miami- I know I'm biased. But, next year will be the first time in a long time that our team will be mostly comprised of upperclassmen. Even if Franks leaves Moss, Wayne, King, Jones, Sands and the redshirts establish the deepest receiving core maybe ever. Not to mention our situation at RB. KK and KD battling will only help them. It's ours if our kids want it.
2. Michigan...
3. Texas...
4. Nebraska...
5- Florida...
6- FSU...
7. Tennessee...
8. USC...
9. Virginia Tech- The Hokies will be loaded on offense again and Vick will be a year wiser and better. Their much heralded D loses six or seven starters next year. Can they recruit and fill the void? They will be special on offense but can they survive without their trademark defense?
10- PSU...

The mosh pit known as the Syracuse football forum makes an appearance in this week's MBM with a vein-popping rant from SUTHROB1. It's times like this that we like to reflect on how great it is to be a Hokie, and how lousy it would be to be an Orange.

Back to LeSabre for a minute - our very own J.R. Hokie has made a name for himself with some rather brash but nonetheless accurate predictions over the last few months. Here's one that we dug up from this summer, and all we've got to add to it is "amen", and J.R., what's your prediction on the Sugar Bowl?

Let's take a trip over to the Tarpit for some more commentary on the fiasco that is UNC football. Fired Offensive Coordinator Steve Marshall's seat is still warm as the clickety-cloppiters rip into him worse than any Tech fan ever did. Check out this thread on proposed slogans for the gone but not forgotten Steve Marshall "offense".

Lastly, another installment of our hugely popular "In Your Face, Wahoos" segment, where we dredge up some of the foolish pre-31-to-7 predictions on LeSabre. This week's crow goes out to Blaze01, Bruhoo, and cAv - come and get it!
