DE Jaymes Gayle Commits to VT
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

Virginia Tech received more good news on Wednesday when Bethel (Hampton, VA) defensive end James Gayle made his verbal commitment. He is the ninth commitment of the 2009 recruiting class.

Gayle was impressive at Tech's most recent football camp, quickly earning a scholarship offer. He chose the Hokies over offers from Central Florida, Purdue, NC State, East Carolina and Syracuse.

The 6-4, 220-lbs. defensive end had 56 tackles and 10 sacks during the 2007 season, his junior year.

"The day I got the offer I told my father I wanted to commit to Virginia Tech, but he wanted me to wait and think about it longer," Gayle recalled. "I was thinking about it again today and went ahead and did it.

Gayle's father and uncle played football at Ohio State.
