DE Lamar Veney Commits to Tech

The Richmond Times-Dispatch and Roanoke Times are reporting that 6-5, 265-pound defensive end Lamar Veney from Stuart's Draft, Virginia has verbally committed to the Hokies over UVa. Veney is ranked the #29 player in the state by Doug Doughty (that's likely to go up) and #22 by SuperPrep. Veney had told SuperPrep in July, August, and October that he favored UVa, but the Hokies snared him. Out of three state players who have verballed to VT or UVa and were considering both schools, Veney is the second to pick the Hokies. The others were OL Brandon Gore (VT commit) and DB Stefan Orange (UVa commit). Veney is Tech's 10th verbal commitment (including Montavis Pitts).
