BCS Standings Due Out Today; Hokies Projected #3

It's hard to believe, but it's already that time: the initial 2003-04 BCS Rankings are due out today, and ESPN.com's Brad Edwards said late Sunday night that the Hokies are projected to be #3 in the standings.

That's the same as VT's ranking in the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls, and the projection puts to rest the fears of Hokie fans that Virginia Tech's soft schedule would boot them down the BCS rankings. With a second-half schedule that is without question stronger than the first half, the Hokies should remain strong in the BCS standings, should they continue to win.

But as Tech fans know from their 2001 and 2002 experiences, things can blow up quickly, to the point where you're not even included in the final BCS standings, if you're not careful.

The full, official BCS standings will be unveiled Monday night at 6 p.m. on SportsCenter, and will be released shortly thereafter on ESPN's web site.
