GAMES OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10:
8:00 pm EST ESPN
  #19 Michigan 4-2 (1-1 Big 10)
pk #13 Minnesota 6-0 (2-0 Big 10)
Rescheduled due to the Twins game.  Yes, the Twins game that never happened because the Evil Empire can not be stopped.

Now me, I'm still trying to figure out if Minnesota is "worthy" or not. They passed the first test in taking down Penn State, but that's less impressive than it would have been in past years.  If the Gophers can hand Michigan their third loss of the '03 campaign, then I will be officially sold on their legitimacy.

Pick: Minnesota
8:00 pm EST ESPN2
  #17 TCU 5-0 (2-0 CUSA)
-1 South Florida 3-1 (2-0 CUSA)
At first the line on this game really surprised me.  "Who is South Florida," I asked, "to be the favorite over a top-25 team?  Are they still getting mileage out of beating Pitt last year?"

Then I realized that the USF Bulls got more votes in this week's Coaches Poll than the mighty Florida Gators, and it all became like crystal.

Pick: TCU
GAMES OF SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11:
3:30 pm EST @ Dallas, TX ABC, Gameplan
-6 #1 Oklahoma 5-0 (1-0 Big XII)
  #11 Texas 4-1 (1-0 Big XII)
OU's going for the four-peat, and there's a QB controversy brewing in Austin.

But OU has been probably the best looking team outside of Blacksburg.  No holes, not even any hints of a problem area.

Pick: TBD
12:00 pm EST ABC
  #2 Miami 5-0 (2-0 Big East)
-7 #5 Florida State 5-0 (4-0 ACC)
"This could happen to you, baby. This could happen TO ANYBODY!""

I'm all for Miami losing key players to injury, but I wish it hadn't happened for another week or two.  Berlin does not look like he's capable of carrying a team yet, and Peyton Jr. has spent his entire college career buried on the depth chart.

And yet Saint Bobby still doesn't have too many wins against good Miami teams on his resume.  And Chris Rix still seems to suffer from chronic reoccurring brainlock.

This line's been blowing up.  Starting as a 5 point favorite earlier in the week, it seems now that everyone is wagering on the Noles.  So the [smart] money says to take FSU, but I'm pulling for destiny!

Pick: Miami
9:00 pm EST ESPN
-2.5 #3 Ohio State 5-0 (1-0 Big 10)
  #22 Wisconsin 5-1 (2-0 Big 10)
Stay up late kiddies, this could be a BIG game for us.  The Ohio State University has been living on borrowed time for a season and a half, and sooner or later that bill will come due.  Krenzel or no Krenzel, a hostile Camp Randle stadium is scarier than Anacostia at night.
Pick: Whisky
12:00 pm EST ESPN
  Syracuse 3-1 (0-0 Big East)
-18 #5 Virginia Tech 5-0 (1-0 Big East)
It may be Homecoming, but The Cuse is no pushover.

Y'all know the drill I'm sure, but suffice it to say that this is another statement game for Kevin Jones.  As the studio analysts have been saying, there is no single dominant player stepping to the forefront of the Heisman race this year.  One of them even singled out Reyes for his early production.  Well, KJ needs to put a stop to that.  I have faith that our front seven can slow down Reyes, what I want to see is KJ blow up.  I want to see Texas A&M all over again.

And I want volume.  Lots of it.  Shake the keys.  If you don't own one already, BUY A GOBBLE SHAKER!!!  Note that you can remove the bottom of a soda cup with your keys and create a great megaphone.  Scream, shout, jump up and down, I don't care ... just make it loud.  And get to the game ON TIME!  I know it's Homecoming, but you've got all day after the game to catch up on old acquaintances.  At 12:00, we've all got a job to do.

Pick: HOKIES!
3:30 pm EST CBS
  Florida 3-3 (1-2 SEC)
-10 #6 LSU 5-0 (2-0 SEC)
I know I'm late on the bandwagon, but FireRonZook.com is just too much!  Ah, to be as spoiled as a Gator fan.

Have I mentioned that I love the internet?

Pick: LSU
12:30 pm EST JP Sports, Gameplan
  Auburn 3-2 (2-0 SEC)
-6 #8 Arkansas 4-0 (1-0 SEC)
This is probably Arkansas' last real test until the end of the season.  And since undefeated SEC teams = bad in my book, we're pulling for the Tigs.

Let the redemption continue.

Pick: Auburn
7:45 pm EST ESPN2
-2 #10 Georgia 4-1 (2-1 SEC)
  #14 Tennessee 4-1 (2-1 SEC)
With Florida evidently electing to sit this one out, it looks like the SEC East could be decided this weekend, in this game.  Me, I like Georgia.  Sure they've fallen once, but they just look like a much more complete team than Tennessee.  The Vols simply can't run the ball consistently.  I mean they lost to a sub-.500 MAC team for crying out loud! :)
Pick: UGA
6:00 pm EST ESPN
  Notre Dame 1-3
-9.5 #16 Pittsburgh 3-1 (0-0 Big East)
Notre Dame doesn't have a quarterback, but that's okay, Pittsburgh doesn't have a defense.
Pick: UPitt
3:30 pm EST ABC, Gameplan
  Penn State 2-4 (0-2 Big 10)
-12 #20 Purdue 4-1 (1-0 Big 10)
Purdue may have the best defense in the Big 10.  Joe Paterno has a living memory of the best defense in the Big 10.

Advantage: Boilermakers

Pick: Purdue
12:00 pm EST JP Sports, Gameplan
-2 #24 Wahoo State 4-1 (3-0 ACC)
  Clemson 3-2 (1-1 ACC)
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere kitty kitty kitty...

I tried to watch the Clemson - Maryland game last week, but honestly I couldn't stay awake.  I do have vague recollections of Bowden Jr. looking very upset and Clemson's offense looking absolutely clueless.

Pick: Al's Idiots
